The British Museum is the oldest national, public museum in the world! Sir Hans Sloane left his huge collection of fascinating objects to the nation upon his death in 1753. Over a period of 70 years, Sloane brought together thousands of objects from around the world including natural history specimens, books and prints. His original collections would also go on to become part of the @Natural_History_Museum and @BritishLibrary.
