ミラノ、朝9時。ジュネーヴに向かうので朝食を終えて部屋に戻って来たらベッドの上に何やら淡いグレーの袋が……。えっ？ と思って見てみたら「BRUNELLO CUCINELLI」の文字が……。いやいや、あり得ない。いくらなんでも続き過ぎてる！と思ったら、なんとイタリアのラグジュアリーブランド、ブルネロ クチネリ ジャパンのダビデ社長と遠藤さんからの誕生日プレゼントでした。もう3日続けて、完全に涙腺崩壊。ネイビー、グレー、ブラウン、ベージュといったベーシックな色遣いにも関わらず、ラグジュアリーでシック、それでいてスポーティというクチネリが創り出した独自のスタイルは「クチネリスト」という言葉がイタリアで産まれるほど世界的に人気を呼んでいるんですよね。去年、ソロメオ村に取材しに行ったんですが、そこは、まるで天国でもあるかのように働く人たちは皆、幸せそうでした。かつて「美は救済である」とドストエフスキーが語ったように、クチネリさんはこんなことを言っていました。「簡単に捨てられないものを作りたかった。美しいものは美しい場所からしか生まれない。そして人間が喜ぶことをする……」。今回いただいたドキュメントケースも、素材や色使いの良さはもちろんですが、細部まで丁寧に作られていて、その背景には職人さんたちの手仕事や連綿と続くイタリア文化を感じられる逸品でした。素晴らしい製品を産み出すだけでなく、作る職人さんや、その製品を作る職人さん達が暮らす村まで再生させ、人々を幸せにし続けるブランドだなんて本当に素晴らしい考え方ですよね。本当にありがとうございました。大切に使わせて頂きますね。 ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■
