Pontiac Firebird, Ford Thunderbird, Buick Skylark, Plymouth Roadrunner, Ford Falcon. Cars and birds seem to go together, don't they? Sleek, dramatically colored, powerful predators, and a perfect way to market a shiny new automobile, right? What bird do you think deserves a car named after it?
This radiator emblem is for a Falcon-Knight automobile from around 1927. Scroll to see a few other favorites: Pan-American of Decatur, Illinois, 1917-1922. Acme of Reading, Pennsylvania, 1903-1911. Case of Racine, Wisconsin, 1911-1927. Dodge Victory Six automobile by Chrysler of Detroit, Michigan, 1928-1929.
The last one in the series of photos belonged to a Wills Sainte Claire automobile that was manufactured by C. H. Wills & Company of Marysville, Michigan, from 1921 until 1927. The radiator emblem features a Canadian goose flying over a wooded lake. Wills chose geese as his company’s mascot due to the bird's ability to travel. We hope you had a great #NationalBirdDay and that you have a lovely #NationalBirdNight! ?
