Last night I was looking for a copy of Lolita by Nabokov (actually copies since mine is in 2 volumes - they are the original green covers) that I know I have somewhere, after I heard an author I like (I forgot who it was) mentioning that it's one of the best tragicomedy and someone else saying that it's a good example of author whose first language is not English having fun with the language, I figure that I should finally read it. Unsurprisingly I couldn't find them among my mess, but I came across the copy of Remains of the Day I apparently bought in 2001, at the old Rizzoli bookstore on West Broadway. I remember started reading it back then but I was obviously too young to appreciate the story of old English butler recalling his life in detailed descriptions and I don't even think I finished it. It was in the paper bag that I meant to bring to sell them at used bookstore, and I started casually reading it and surprised to realize that words flowed into my head like they had not 17 years ago, and found myself enjoying it. I also figure that he also is a person moving to English speaking country when he was little and lived with his version of Japan made out of his memory in his head, and it is a book about reminiscing, it is a good book to run into when I was looking for Nabokov. (Also now it makes a good double #tbt to the moment of me buying the book and the butler reminiscing his life.) So I started reading it last night, and since I always put receipt of it at the last page of the books when I buy them so I will know when and where I bought them, I took a picture of it last night and went sleep reading it. And I woke up to the news of Kazumi Ishiguro winning the Nobel Prize in Literature. I guess there is the right timing for everything. (Especially with books and people.) Now I salvaged it from being sold away and continue reading properly at proper age (for me). Congrats Mr. #kazuoishiguro for #nobelprize
