[swipe ??] In the Tsugaru Peninsula’s quiet city of Goshogawara, visitors can retrace the footsteps of famous Japanese authors such as Osamu Dazai, and see the city’s famous "nebuta" — or paper lantern — floats. Each year in early August, huge nebuta floats depicting warriors in battle parade around town to the sound of local music. Fortunately for those who are unable to travel in August, the neon paper giants are available all year long at the city’s Taichineputa Museum. (Davey Young photos)
