Nara Kasuga-yama Primeval Forest
春日山原始林
Two interconnected hiking trails wind their way through the Kasuga Primeval Forest. Visitors to the Northern Route will be treated to panoramic views of Nara City and the Yamato Valley from the summit of Wakakusa Mountain, and the picturesque and refreshing waters of the Uguisu no Taki Waterfall. Stone Buddha Statues, historic sites, and a cobblestone samurai road await hikers on the Southern Route. Walking the Northern Route takes about 2-4 hours while the Southern Route takes 3-6 hours. Walking a complete circuit of both routes takes between 4 and 6 hours.
