This morning we re-launched our wheelchair accessible bus into Venture Transport livery – being kindly re-sprayed by @gonortheast ! For the occasion it was joined by a 1963 Leyland Leopard and an Optare Solo in our 1900s Town – all in various forms of Venture livery.

Venture Transport was founded shortly after the First World War and was the largest independent bus operator in North East England. It operated services in the Derwent Valley between Consett and Newcastle upon Tyne with their distinctive yellow, maroon and cream livery becoming well known.
On 1st May 1970, it was sold to the Northern General Transport Company along with 86 buses – many of which maintained the livery for some time thereafter. Even though the Venture name disappeared for a while, recently Go North East has re-launched the name with a service around Consett and Stanley. #bus #venture #transport #heritage #leyland #optare #access #livery #durham #northeast #
