Today is the final day of our #VolunteersWeek takeover. Thank you to all 500 of our amazing volunteers for the insight, energy, talent and time you give to Tate. We hope you have enjoyed the #VolunteersWeek takeover as much as we have! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The lucky last volunteer we will be meeting is Alex, who is a Family Host at Tate Liverpool. “I decided to volunteer at Tate Liverpool because I enjoy visiting local art galleries and wanted to give something back to the community. I was enthralled when I first visited Tate Liverpool by the atmosphere and its exhibits and my feelings have not changed since. The experience allows you to share your interest in art with everyone you encounter, whilst continuing to learn from others.” ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Alex’s favourite artwork from the Tate Collection is Jackson Pollock’s Summertime: Number 9A 1948. “The stunning use of limited colour, together with his freedom to explore a creative and imaginative technique immediately drew me in. I was especially fortunate to see his work first-hand during the Blind Spots Exhibition at Tate Liverpool in 2015, as I have always been interested in abstract works. His composition was nothing short of magical to me, especially as it created such strong emotion, on such an enormous scale!“
