“Into this history [of life classes] steps #IggyPop. Like all models before him, he takes up a pose in front of a room of artists who set out to capture on paper what they see. He is male and well-built, and his revealing body shows the muscles beneath the skin. He is punctual, displays no temperament, and does not fidget. The instructor sets the model’s position, and the time-honored process of pose, rest, pose again is followed. If he moves for any reason, to scratch, to cough, to drink a glass of water, he is able to return to the original pose, helped by a spot marked on the wall that Deller has directed him to look at.
