Hi #OspreyPacks fans, Brian Threlkeld here! I’m excited to be taking over the Osprey account for a couple days to share an amazing 8-day, 70 mile trip around Baxter State Park in Maine last month! Follow @mountains62 for more adventures in Maine and beyond!
Traveling from Russell Pond to Roaring Brook in Baxter State Park requires a mandatory bridgeless crossing of Wassataquoick Stream. Seven days into the trip and we didn't know if it would go until we got there. We were the first group to travel that section of the park for the winter. It could have been a trip-ender. We thankfully found a frozen waterway and made an uneventful crossing, thinking the hard part was over. Boy were we in for a surprise. What followed were close to two dozen drainages that we were forced to cross. Only 5-10 feet deep, but also 10-20 feet wide with open water at the bottom, these quickly became the biggest obstacles of the day and possibly the trip. Thanks to a solid effort by crew and our ability to work together, we navigated these challenges and made it safely into camp after a LONG day. | ?: @mountains62 | #ospreypacks
