In our First Ladies gallery, Martha Washington's dress takes center stage. She wore this silk taffeta gown in the 1780s. The silk is painted with a design of flowers, butterflies, and insects. The collar and cuffs are reproductions. ?? Beside the dress, we've also displayed two pieces of her jewelry, an amber necklace and a citrine pin.
