Winter colds seem to be going around this week. Even between coughing fits, this 1920s ad catches our eye. Maybe it's the bold colors and simple shapes. Made by German-born artist Lucian Bernhard (1883–1972), this ad diverges from Art Nouveau. Instead of emulating flowing lines and harmony with nature, Bernhard's Modernism embraced the new urbanism and fought to attract the viewer's eye amidst a barrage of advertising posters.
