In June 2016, Google unceremoniously erased artist and writer Dennis Cooper’s popular blog and GIF novels, citing a violation of terms of services without further explanation. While the contents of Cooper’s blog were eventually returned, the situation prompted urgent reflection on the relationship between artists and the online platforms they rely on to house their creative work. On 11/16 at 7pm, New Museum will host an evening of interpretive readings of Cooper’s GIF novels, in celebration of the release of his highly anticipated third GIF novel, Zac’s Freight Elevator, which was temporarily lost when the blog was deleted.
