What is a portrait? Would you describe this drawing as one? This symbolic piece by Pierre Dumonstier II features in our new exhibition #FrenchPortraits. It’s called ‘The right hand of Artemisia Gentileschi holding a brush’ and was drawn in 1625. Gentileschi (1593–1653) was a ground-breaking artist, becoming the first woman to enter the academy of art and design in Florence.
