This image was captured on the Sandy Glacier on Mount Hood on February 20th, 2015. I had planned on camping in the entrance of Pure Imagination Cave. I made my way across the icy traverse closer to the cave entrance when the wind picked up - like, really picked up. The wind was howling and swirling around snow and rocks like the way it does with fallen leaves in Autumn. I urgently hiked back across the traverse to seek shelter in a stone hut on a ridge. I barely slept that night because the sounds of rocks hitting the outside of the hut kept me awake. It was the worst winds I have ever experienced. We made the right decision to spend the night in the hut instead of in the cave. When I finally decided to get out of the hut the glacier was perfectly still and quiet.
