Gareth Leonard was not fulfilled with his office job and knew he never would be.

At 25, he quit his comfortable, $50,000-a-year marketing job at a company he helped create and bought a one-way ticket to Buenos Aires. He hasn't stopped traveling since. Nearly seven years later, at 32, Leonard makes a living through his travel blog, @Tourist2Townie. He works with brands like SoBe, Fruit of the Loom, and Marriott, as well as tourism boards in places like Australia and Brazil. Videos have the greatest payoff, he said, delivering anywhere from $1,000 to $20,000 per project. Making income from his passion is "the most exciting thing in the world," he told @CNBC.
