At the @hirshhorn, we like to get a little nerdy about color theory.? We have the most comprehensive collection of Josef Albers in the world!
Albers was a teacher (associated with the Bauhaus school in Germany and later Yale in the U.S.), a painter and color theorist. He researched the interaction of colors and shapes, and created a series of paintings and prints in a standardized format that he called “Homage to the Square” (1950-1976), for which he is best known.
