グローバルで活躍する日本人フォトグラファーである鈴木親は、長年にわたって雑誌『Purple』とコラボレーションしています。今回彼は、映像作家の岡川太郎と協力し、東京の都会の風景を映し出した作品を制作しました。群衆の合間から姿を見せるのは、多くの人が行き交う通りの真ん中に視線を向ける一人の女性。その足元はフィッシュネットストッキングとグッチの〔エース〕スニーカー。そしてそれは都市と切っても切り離せないアイテムであり、私たちを前進させ、ありふれた都会の風景の中で他者との差別化を図るために身に着けるもの。グッチのウェブストライプとともにパンクのスタッズやパールのようなボタンが施された〔エース〕スニーカーが舞台を照らします。また、映像の登場人物は、繊細なブラスのナックルや頑丈なサバイバルツール、そしてアレッサンドロ・ミケーレのリングへのこだわりを思わせるアイテムも身に着けています。これこそまさに、都会のこだわりの強さを表現したポートレートです。#24HourAce
An internationally renowned Japanese photographer, Chikashi Suzuki maintains a long-running collaboration with Purple Magazine. Here, he works with the filmmaker Taro Okagawa to create an ambient portrait of an urban scene in Tokyo. The crowds part to reveal a woman in fishnet stockings and Gucci Ace sneakers gazing into the midst of the busy street. Sneakers are an integral part of cities. They’re what propels us, and what we wear to differentiate ourselves in the mundane urban landscape. The Ace lights up the scene, with punk studs and pearlescent buttons accessorizing the Web stripes. The video’s subject also wears a filigreed brass knuckle, a tough survival tool as well as a reference to Alessandro Michele’s ring obsession.
