Following these historic fires of 1910, the US Forest Service developed a strategy focused on early detection and lookout towers were built in National Forests throughout the county. Today, many of these towers are available to rent. Recently, Steve Ebert, @usefulinformation and Dave Hendrickson, @frestcoast visited one such tower in Oregon.
