Madam Walker, born Sarah Breedlove, was a self-made entrepreneur and philanthropist. She created a line of hair care products for African American women, including the "Wonderful Hair Grower." But she also empowered African American women by creating thousands of new job opportunities through her company. With a beauty school and a system to train "hair culturalists," these Walker agents gained business experience by selling beauty products across the country.
