HHH gallery will reopen for the first time in half a year! We are extremely proud to announce our first exhibition of 2016, “UNKNOWN SCORCHER” by @MeguruYamaguchi. Meguru is a NY-based Japanese artist and this will be his first solo exhibition in Japan. In his latest series called OUT OF BOUND, Meguru is much more focused on brushstroke, and he transcends and evolves the existing framework of canvas.

Through the technique of what he calls “Cut & Paste,” Yamaguchi achieves a uniquely chaotic, vibrantly intense and visually robust abstraction on various surfaces. The method entails laying out paints on plastic sheets to dry, then peeling it off and pasting them onto another surface as if collaging to create shapeless shapes and formless forms.

He has been collaborating with US brands such as Stussy, FTC, ALIFE, and Chari&Co NYC. He has previously participated in numerous exhibitions including shows at Kinfolk 94, +81 gallery in NY, Ace Hotel NY and Hidari Zingaro in Tokyo.

半年ぶりに再開するHHH gallery、2016年の最初の展示を飾るのは現在NY、ブルックリンにて活動する1984年生まれ東京都出身の画家、山口歴。

ブラシストロークを独立させ作成し、キャンバスにコラージュする独自のスタイルとともにAce Hotel NY、Kinfolk 94、+81 gallery NY、東京のHidari Zingaroなどで過去に展示。またStussyやALIFE、Chari&Co NYCなどUSストリートカルチャーの代表的ブランドとコラボレーション商品を発表。2015年には香港のタイムズスクエア、SOGO HONGKONGの30周年記念アーティストに選出され30mのビルボードを飾るなど活動の幅を広げている。

日本初個展となる今回の展示ではより純粋にストロークに焦点を当て、キャンバスという既成の枠組みを超越し、進化させた”OUT OF BOUND"シリーズの最新作を発表する。
