The Fight against #Malaria
In 2012 some 207 million people – more than 80 percent of them from #Africa – contracted malaria. Around 627,000 of these people, including a large number of children under 5, subsequently died of the disease (Source “World Malaria Report”, @worldhealthorganization 2013). In several African countries, such as #Ethiopia, #Uganda, #Zambia and #Malawi, Bayer for many years has participated actively in the fight against malaria, which is transmitted by the Anopheles mosquito.
In 2014 Bayer provided some 49 million euros for cutting-edge research, talented individuals and innovative educational and social projects. As with its business operations, Bayer’s social commitment is based on #innovation and pioneering #spirit.
