Sunday school girls in Maine made this quilt for soldiers in Union hospitals during the Civil War. An X-Ray revealed handwritten notes on the brown squares, including notes of encouragement and a few riddles! Soldiers from Maine were particularly thankful for the quilt. Some even wrote back thank you notes.
