Troye Sivan (@トロアイ・シヴァン) knew his song “DKLA” was missing an extra boost — and he found it in rapper Tkay Maidza (@tkaymaidza), who Troye hand-picked to provide a guest verse.
“I am just such a huge fan of hers,” he says. “I am always gobsmacked when anyone is interested in doing anything I want to do. But we reached out and within two days she sent back this demo. It was SO sick.”
However, because the collaboration was done remotely, the two wouldn’t meet face-to-face until almost a year later.
“There is something so personal about making music and we had done it long-distance, so to be able to meet and have this shared experience, it’s just really, really cool,” he says. “It feels like we’ve known each other a lot longer than the hour we got to chill.” #todayimet
