Yto Barrada is an artist living and working in Tangier, Morocco and New York City. In her book 'The Strait Project: A Life Full of Holes (1998–2004)' she juxtaposes images she has taken with found aerial views of the Strait of Gibraltar. She writes about the 'metonymic character' of the Straight and the tension between its identity as a 'harsh' place and its 'allegorical' identity as a place which stands for something larger – the crossing point of continents and cultures. #RefugeeWeek #RefugeeWeek2015 #photography #migration #borders
